It's ridiculous, I saw that too. I just deleted all my stuff there, and I'll be deleting from my personal account too. It just sucks I have to re-link everything. UGH. I can put images on Livejournal and Dreamwidth for now...
I've found Wordpress the easiest site to use for photos and my art. Open yourself a free blog account. You don't have to write anything because they have templets for just photos. Once you download you can link out of your media the same way you do photobucket without any ads popping up or being redirected for no dang reason. Here is my blog address on Wordpress. https://ebrada.wordpress.com/
I know, right?? Good thing I already had the KI OTP manifesto on Tumblr or else I would've been spitting nails at having to re-upload all of it!!
I can't even log into Photobucket to retrieve my images right now. No idea what I'm going to use instead, but I'll be damned if I'm going to pay them $400/year!!
Ugh, well that's good you don't have to reupload. I can't even think about what I have to reupload everywhere. Thankfully DW seems to have an okay image repository.
someone else suggested Flickr or Imgur. I'm going to check those out as long term options if possible.
Photobucket is shooting themselves in the foot. I want to see how long they last after this. Their site has been shit for awhile anyway, so many ads and videos and just a terrible experience.
They did. I think it's suicide for them, IMO. Nobody is going to want to use them. I imagine A LOT of people are jumping ship. I have two more accounts to grab stuff from and I'm done.
Ugh. Given how I recently was encouraging people to use it for hosting, I feel partly responsible for any shit that came down from this.
Although I use Smugmug, is Flickr still a viable option? Seems so weird these days to still have trouble finding a decent way to host photos on the cheap.
Ah, it's not on you. Photobucket has been around for YEARS and been pretty trustworthy for a long time. This is just recent greediness on their part. It'll be their undoing I think.
I think Flickr is an option, as someone recommended to me.
