[community profile] het_bigbang  reveals are out! Both of my artists got back to me about my artwork. The Mad Max author really liked it, and I am pleased. I'm going to pimp their works here because I DID read them to do the art and found them really good.

[Mad Max] My Blue Bucket of Gold by ninety6tears
Rated Explicit. Max/Furiosa, canon divergent.
Max returns to the Citadel to arrange an exchange of favors, but his end of a deal with Furiosa, as well as rising concern for the Dag’s struggles, proves to be much more than he bargained for. New beginnings promise healing, but some old habits are hard to wash out.

[Iron Man Movies] the bolder the lip by sandyk
Rated Explicit. Tony/Pepper, AU after Iron Man 2
Pepper said yes to going to Venice. The secret of Tony's success was to tell Pepper the truth, always.

And the story that wasn't finished but I did art for anyway has at least the first chapter up.

[Riverdale] Jughead and Betty's Epic Detour by Browneyesparker
Rated T. Betty/Jughead. AU
Jughead and Betty take the road trip that Archie and Jughead were supposed to take together. Title taken from "Roger and Amy's Epic Detour" by Morgan Matson but that's as far as it goes. Rated T.

I read a really good and HOT fic on KU yesterday. I haven't updated on Goodreads yet because there are two more stories in there to read as a bonus, but the fic was really good if you're into erotica and want something decent to read to get your jollies off. I'm not usually into romance/erotica but I liked the premise and I like to see what sells out there.

It's called: So. Toxic: a virgin, fake marriage by Kelley Harvey.

I have a small shameless addiction to fake marriage / marriage of convenience set ups and I always like to see how they play out. Even as a bonus, these characters are reunited childhood friends which is always adorable IMO. The pacing in this story is pretty fast, and the two characters are likable, even the "bad boy". The writing style is light and amusing, but no where near the juvenile ways of EL James. It can be contemporary at times, but the writing is done well enough that I didn't find it bad or obnoxious. The voice seemed modern enough and fit the characters, like I could picture it.

The book is not without its issues. There is little to no plot, with some plot anecdotes here and there. Tyson has taken care of the baby boy he thinks is his son of a former girlfriend, who is a drug addict. He needs Jo to fake a marriage so he can look like a responsible father to the courts. The only thing I see about Tyson being a good father is what the author tells us. Most of the time he hands the kid off to a friend or something, but the kid does like him. The reason Jo "owes" him seems kind of silly, and we really never know why Tyson is rich or what he does as a job. So their are environmental things in the book that are weak if not non-existent. Jo is pretty milk toast. She has the spunky best friend to threaten the love interest when needed. There is also the evil racist mother trope.

If you can look by any of that, the sex scenes, and they are NUMEROUS, are really satisfying. I tried reading this book during my lunch break, in the break room, with people coming and going and trying to talk to me, and I was definitely uncomfortable. Haha.

If anything it was a shameless treat. It was a fast read, and I liked it well enough to share it. It's good for horny readers and not so much for people that like porn with plot. I'd probably read the author again. The writing style and grammar wasn't bad, which is a plus with KU.

I can tell most people are phoning in today at work. My boss talked to me and another coworker about mattresses on sale and labor day deals for like 20 minutes. So yeah, it's that kind of day.

I do at least want to get all my emails done today, which is manageable. I don't like leaving dangling work for the weekend.

I hope everyone has a good Labor Day weekend. I'm looking forward to it. Maybe I'll be productive and get some stuff done.

This was an awesome convention!

I had never gone to Chicago Tardis but I can say I was pleased. It wasn't too busy, and I'm glad I went on Sunday because I heard Friday was a huge clusterfuck. Anyway, the lines weren't too bad, there wasn't that many people, and I got exactly what I wanted ... to meet Paul and Alex, get their autographs and get a picture with them.

I have been having Eight/River bunnies dancing in my head since I got back from the convention.

Pictures )

Alex was hinting a bit on the Christmas special without giving away too many spoilers. But she did say that River was really REALLY naughty in the special, and she stressed it alot, so it made me even more excited for the Christmas special. I have video of her talking about working with Peter, but the sound quality sucks. Anyway, Alex was a treat! Though I will say Paul McGann was the best. He was personable, chatty, and just very lovely all around when interacting with him. Even Joe liked listening to his panel, so that's a plus.

Jenna Coleman was supposed to be here, but she canceled and they replaced her with Ingrid Oliver. I barely made it into one of the Ingrid panels but she was pretty cool too. You can tell Ingrid really loves the fans.

Sam Anderson was also there. I'm not really a Danny Pink fan, but now I'm a Sam Anderson fan. He was totally interactive with the fans and a huge goofball. You can tell he really loves Who people and he was very nice and engaging with everyone. He was signing autographs behind Paul so while I was in line I watched him interact with people and he is just a hoot. The Chicago Tardis staff was saying what a "problem child" he was, and one incident in particular he went out without his "handler" and was walking among the masses of fans, up and down and totally trolling the autograph lines so much the Chicago Tardis staff had to kick him out of the hallway. I even saw him dress up as a Cyberman and take photos with some of the fans. He's pretty awesome, so if he comes back next year, I'll definitely want to get his autograph. Maybe I'll rewatch Danny Pink episodes to increase my love for him.

Joe and I made it into the tail end of the writers panel too, which I wish I would have joined earlier but they were stressing the importance of writing fanfiction, which made me happy.

All and all, a good day. I'm also broke right now, and I spent some of my Christmas bonus without getting it yet. LOL. But totally worth it.

Oh and also, after all these years, Paul McGann still hates his movie wig.

Heroes Reborn

OMG. OMG.

Okay, they've teased about this before. They teased us at the end of Season 4. They teased that Xbox was going to do a series in the Heroes universe with new characters. They teased us that Heroes would continue in the comics last year as a Season 5.

We've heard NOTHING on any of this for awhile. And yet Tim Kring is apparently doing a mini-series. A really short teaser trailer is floating around saying they are reviving it for 13 episodes. No more details than that. Is Sylar back? What about Claire? Are these new characters?

Everything is hush-hush but at least there's hope for fans. It all seems legit. NBC even updated it's Heroes page.

Here's the teaser trailer.

On one hand I'm overjoyed because lately I've been so "meh" about TV and I really watch a lot less shows lately than I did back in the day. (Plus, I'd love a revival; maybe I can finish some of my unfinished stories.) On the other hand, I'm skeptical. I've seen too many Heroes hopes dashed in the past.

*fingers crossed*

#HeroesReborn

PS. I'm surprised that there hasn't been anything like this on LJ yet, but even Tumblr is just getting wind. I'm hoping to see fan base come back a little bit. I hope we don't ALL hate each other and have moved on. Is there still some love left for Heroes?

EDIT: I take that back. My tumblr feed HAS finally exploded from the news. WOOT.

Naturally as a big Avengers fan, I'm all over this new Thor movie. I've been searching around for communities and new fics of the movie, and I thought I'd share what I found in case others are interested in this fandom as well.

Communities:

[livejournal.com profile] avengersblend - A General Thor (and Avengers et al)community (very new but it could grow)
[livejournal.com profile] thor_het - Het fanfiction
[livejournal.com profile] thor_slash - Slash fanfiction
[livejournal.com profile] norsekink - Thor kink meme
[livejournal.com profile] needmyhammer - General movie comm

[livejournal.com profile] het_reccers has also been finding some recent Thor gems as well.

Also, [livejournal.com profile] comicstore_news has Thor stuff, especially now, but encompasses all comic-book media news.

Fanfiction I like so far:

I'll Be Yours by [livejournal.com profile] sarkywoman, Thor x Loki, rated R. Oneshot.
Comment: I wasn't completely sold on the Loki/Thor pairing until I read this, and OH LORD, I want more of them. SO HOT.

Salt on Your Lips by [livejournal.com profile] mekosuchinae, Thor x Jane, rated R. Oneshot.
Comment: A beautiful, sexy and well characterized Jane and Thor fic, if het is more up your alley.

[livejournal.com profile] eviinsanemonkey did a recent AWESOME character study of Loki that needs more love.

I'm contemplating writing some myself. I just thought if anyone enjoyed the movie and wanted to venture into the fandom I'd give you a little direction.

XD

If you guys know of any other Thor communities, let me know! I'll add them to the list. :)

The Eikyuu Kosai - Miroku & Sango Awards are looking for nominations. If you're in the Inuyasha fandom, I suggest you stop by ([livejournal.com profile] mirsanawards) and make some nominations. I should be searching for mine this week, of course most of the stuff I've read has already been nominated, but that doesn't mean I can't look out for more. :)

Nominees are here.

Nominations must be posted here.

All nominations due July 14th.

And thanks for the nomination! I didn't realize I had anything eligible. :3

I also want to thank whoever nominated and voted for me over at the [livejournal.com profile] syelleficawards which is really cool and a nice surprise. I've had the award for awhile but I just wanted to thank them publicly, as well as the mods who host the awards.

David's back today, but he isn't yet, so I'm enjoying a little lazy time before I have to start working on something and look like I'm busy, because I clearly am still doing downtime since we got most of our work done last Friday.

At least this week is only four days long! \o/
